horsea

                  Sea horse

The seahorse is a small fish with segmented bony armor, an upright posture, a curled prehensile tail and a tubular snout

The seahorse is a horse headed fish that is as fast as a snapper and you can catch it easily.  They do not have scales but they have bony plates. They swim upright.

Sea horses eat and feed on  plankton, small fish, small shrimps and copepods

The two sea horses touch each other. The female puts up to 1500 eggs into the male’s pouch.

The sea horse habitat is shallow tropical and temperate waters throughout the world.

The number of seahorses are getting fewer as their habitat gets destroyed.

Partly Cloudy

Here is a piece of writing I wrote after watching a short video called Partly Cloudy. We had to try and use adverbs as sentence starters.

Quietly the geese swooped down into the window as the sun slowly rose in the sky. Loudly the cats meowed as they went into the house. The bird raced into the cloud like  a racing car.  Zapp the fluffy cloud gods made babies and toys. The sad black cloud picked up a small piece of cloud and rolled around  until it made a small crocodile. The crocodile bit the geese’s head. The ram bucked  the geese all the way to the house. Spike, spike! The porcupine appeared out of nowhere, pricking the cloud. Sadly the geese left the sad cloud and he began to cry. Happily the geese brought a bag to help him. The cloud was happy again. The new package helped him, giving him armor.

Narrative Writing

We have been learning how to write narratives. Here is a narrative I have written about a girl with a plane

The Fence Fire
One day not that long ago Deevon walked into the lush green paddock to fly a plane into the sun rise and around the tree by her favourite rock. She threw the plane into the sky. It did a loop the loop around the tree and crashed into the fence. The batteries leaked and were burning the fence. Suddenly a fire started. Deevon yelled for help. HELP! HELP!

Kaynee rushed out from his house with a bucket of water to put it out. He was slow moving through the big grassy meadow. Finally he got to the fire and poured the water on but it quickly ran out. The fire was spreading around the oak tree. The table and chair caught alight. She screamed, “call the fire brigade.”

Finally the fire truck arrived. The tree was burning. Luckily the fire men put the fire out as quick as they could.  The fire was out. The fire left black marks everywhere. The beautiful green paddock was no longer.

That night she went to bed and thought about the poor old oak tree.

WINTER
`
Winter blows its cold icy breath everywhere.
The early morning frost is crunchy and white covering the green grass.
The loud wind howls in the freezing air like a stray dog hungry for a bone.
Tiny snowflakes flutter down to land on the frozen ground,
covering everything with a white sparkling blanket.
The trees become bare, brown bones standing like statues admiring the view.
Heavy rain falls from the dark grey sky, pounding against the soggy ground.

Chilly bitterness in the air, winter is here.

                                 Autumn  - DRAFT
Leaves swaying down from the big brown trees. Birds chirping from up above the soggy trees. Slip slop leaves dropping from the trees. The sun bearing down on everyone backs. Crash bang cold icey balls dropping from the big black cloud.

Erupting Volcano

Here is my moment in time writing about our volcano experiment.

Boom bang! The huge volcano erupted when Mrs Craig poured in the ingredients. “Wow!” everyone yelled out loud. The froth rushed out of the cup. Boom! I could just imagine what it would look like in real life. I could see the red froth flowing down in the sand.

Te Ahuahu

Here is my recount about walking up Te Ahuahu

“Stomp stomp!” Everyone raced into the big red bus. It zoomed to the mountain, bump bump. We all lined up to walk Te Ahu Ahu  mountain. The mountain was as green as a big slippery jelly. “Yuss we’re there!” shouted Cyprus. Stomp, stomp! I trudged up the huge tiring maunga. We all trudged and trudged up the grassy path. We walked under the burning ball of fire.
